Small Town v. City

Ok, so Chris and I drove home 2 separate cars from our Easter weekend and let me tell you....that can be brutal. You have so much time to think when your toddler is sleeping and all you have is the hum of the road. Well, I think my thoughts have gotten me into trouble. Let me explain......

I love my house. I love the suburb we live in. We have great neighbors. Have made a few friends with little ones. Have all the conveniences of Wal-mart, Target and 3 different grocery and drug stores to chose from within a 5 mile radius. If Ava and I want to go shopping it literally is a 10 minute drive to the mall. So, with all these things at my finger tips why do I THINK I want to move back to a small town? I figured when I mentioned even thinking about it Chris would think I lost my mind but his response was anything but that. As a matter of fact over Easter while at his grandma's house he asked his aunt if Fort Hays had any jobs were looking into! Was he just making conversation or did he really take my question of "would you ever consider moving back to a small town" to heart?

As some of you know I was in Lewis for the birth of my new nephew and while there I stopped in at the local bank and chatted up with the ladies holding a bake sale to raise money for the little league. When I saw that I wanted to be the one behind the table greeting the locals and selling my goods. I so wanted that. Why? Why do I long to live in a town where everyone knows everyone? Where my child can ride her bike down main street and not worry about a car hitting her? I want to walk into the post office and the Postmaster know who I am. I want to literally be able to see the stars and smell the wheat fields in the summer time. Some of my best memories were growing up on a farm/small town. Riding in the grain trucks with my grandpa during harvest. Riding 4-wheelers into town. Staying out late during the street dance in the summer time but your parents not worrying about you because the town was so small. I want Ava to experience that.

At least I think I want this.......
